Hello and Welcome to the Rock Your Life Movement!
If you choose to follow along I can also say welcome to the first day of your journey to discovering a healthy, fit, and fulfilling life. I hope you will find this blog as a guide to improving not only your health and wellness but your outlook and your future.
I'll put it to you straight. I am no nutritionist. I am no dietician. I am not an expert. But what I am is experienced. I am a woman who found herself fed up with being overweight and obese. I am woman who found herself fed up with living the status quo. Fed up with scrimping by.
I have been on a mission to change my life which all started with taking control of my weight. I started making changes every day that over the course of three years added up to a total of 101 lbs lost. It wasn't easy. It wasn't a quick fix. I am a busy mom of three, I homeschool, and I run a Beachbody coaching business. Seriously if I can do it YOU can do it too. You owe it to yourself and to your family.
Sometimes I may come off as a bit preachy but you know how the saying goes, nothing like a reformed sinner. My extreme weight gain was no surprise. I ate like crap and was lazy. When someone acknowledges their past behaviour they can release it, not dwell on the past, and start living in the now. You are a product of your past but every minute you have the opportunity to change that.
In my personal weight loss journey I learned what I should and shouldn't eat. I learned how the diet industry keeps you coming back for more while getting you fatter overall. Actually, they bank on that! I learned the connection between food and health and wellness.
There is also a massive connection between how you feel physically and how you feel mentally and emotionally. I constantly engage in personal development. For some people that is the first step. You have to believe in yourself and you have to love yourself. Without faith and love in yourself you will get nowhere. You'll end up believing the naysayers instead (including the one in your own mind).
I hope you stick around and I hope this blog can help inspire you and help you towards not only existing, not only living your life, but ROCKING your life. That is what it is all about. We are on this earth for such a short time so why not make the most and the best of it.
Find out how I lost stubborn weight, baby and pregnancy weight, emotional eating weight, and weight that packed on from years of poor food choices and a lazy lifestyle. Also discover what I gained as what I gained is far more important that what I lost. I gained perspective. I gained confidence. I gained knowledge about my body and what it needs to be at it's best. I gained an attitude that tells me every day that I am worth that workout and I am worth fuelling my body with nothing less that what it deserves. When you love yourself you treat yourself better.
Now that you know my philosophy here is a little about the ME me. I am in my early 30s. I am married to a kick ass rock guitar player that has some serious rock cred. I am a musician as well, I have played piano since I was 5 and continue to practice, and play, and compose to this day. I also began singing lessons at 8 and have done everything from house bands, to large show choirs, to small ensembles. Music runs in our family's blood. Rocking my life isn't just a metaphor.
I have had a variety of jobs from being a music and instrument specialist, a secretary at a private high school, and an executive assistant to the board of a national non-profit organization. While they have all served me well the skills I learned help me in my most important job now.
My husband and I have three kids. Our 8 year old is a hot wheels nut and a gamer. Our five year old is all about super heroes. And our little miss is three years old and is a serious girly girl that can hold her own against her brothers.
I am a farm girl trapped in the city but the city has grown on me. I'd love a little place just outside the city so I can have the best of both worlds. A girl can dream right? ALWAYS!
I am also a serious lover of Jesus. I see the presence of God in my life constantly from the relationships that have been brought into my life to the little coincidences that aren't coincidences. We are are a homeschooling family for a variety of reasons but mostly because it is what I felt called to do. We aren't perfect at it but I don't aim for perfection anyways.
I am also a Beachbody Coach and I love it! Being a single income family can be tough but coaching has given me the ability to add to the family purse, help with the bills, and allow me to get myself those little extra somethings that I wouldn't otherwise. It is also a very fulfilling business. I get the pride of running my own business, helping others succeed, and helping others reach their weight loss goals. Helping others where I struggled for so long is an incredibly fulfilling and purposeful job.
